Touhou fans are awesome

Sorry for not updating in a long while, there has been holidays and other stuff!
Anyway, I think that fans of the indie-game Toho Project or Project Shrine Maiden by ZUN are great. The make so much original content, wether it’s doujins, mini-games or videos. This post is dedicated to them and their efforts.

The game, which in it self is an impressive feat for a one man job, has one of the most creative fanbases that I’ve ever encountered. They make videos, games, movies, comedy-sketches, music, yes everything you can imagine, based on this one game series. The characters in the games have a story and some development, yes, but not as much as in the doujin-comics and parodies. There have been whole stories written by fans of certain characters in the game and you could fill books with information about the world of Touhou.

The trend of fan-creation is very much strong not only in Japan but also in the western world. Fans all over the globe has for years enjoyed Marisa stole the precious thing, many without knowing what it really is. I doubt that even 50% of the fans have played the game or know where the characters come from in the first place. Some many say that you aren’t a true fan if you know the games inside and out, but I disagree. The game was made by a fan, so to speak, and the fans of this fan-made game has created so much more.
