Nicovideo.jp is like youtube, but in japanese and with more functions. This post will go through the comment filtering function that’ll make your uploaded videos a bit more interactive.

By now, you should have registered for nicovideo.jp, commented on some videos and even uploaded some.

You may have noticed that some uploaders add something extra to their videos, especially if they get popular. You can sometimes enter just one letter in the comment field and it’ll spell out a whole meme for you. The question is, how do they do it?

Join us on moemania.org and we will walk you through comment filtering:

Telling people of filters

Take a look at the image above. Outlined is the interesting part, in red, where the uploader tells you that you can enter u, t1, t2 and so on in the comment field to activate different filters. This means that pressing u will make you comment ウッーウッーウマウマ(゚∀゚).
This sounds like fun, right?

What you need to be able to add filtering is a video that you uploaded yourself. Then you need to go to your uploaded video on nicovideo.jp and press the top second tab on the left to get to the comment filtering settings:

Comment filtering tab

Enter the comment you want to filter in the first text-box
Enter the what you want the comment to become in the second text-box
Press the button under the second box to add the filter

    Extra:
The bottom left button marks all entries
The bottom middle button unmarks all entries
The bottom right button deletes marked entries

You can start using the filters as soon as you’ve added them to your video! It might be a good idea to browse to smilevideo.jp and add in the video description that there actually are filters added so that people can start using them☆
