Nicovideo: Rankings update with graphs

Nicovideo has now updated their way of displaying the video rankings. It’s now easier to follow how well a video is doing and you can also compare up to three different videos at once.

I’ve taken the liberty to translate some elements on these pages so that you guys easily can find your way around. Lets start with how the rankings page looks like.

All the categories

The new thing here is that you can explore the rankings from previous days. This can be interesting, especially since there now are nicodictionary entries for every date, as today, 6/2 2009. People can freely write what was important for different dates, such as when memes were born and when something important happened in real life.

Also note that you also can view the rankings for the NicoIchiba ads that are displayed under the videos. Sorting can be done by views, comments or mylists.

There are also graphs for how good videos are doing on a daily basis. Imagine that you are watching a video and you want to see how well it is doing today compared to yesterday. Just click the link above the video marked 【ランキング推移を確認】and you are on your way!

Here you can compare up to three videos at once, and see how well one video is doing compared to others. You can sort the video by one category or compare them with every video. Sorting can also be done by views comments and mylists, like at the ranking page. Note that you can zoom in on a specific date by clicking and dragging on the graph between two points. This can be useful to see specific momentarily changes.

The most interesting point with these graphs is comparing videos. Here I am comparing two very popular videos, and you can see exactly when one video hit the rankings. A meme is born! ☆
