How to write authors comments on nicovideo.jp

Date April 23, 2008

So you have some awesome comments that you want to make on your uploaded video. The problem is that they disappear after a lot of comments are made. How can you save them from termination?
This is where author comments come in!

What are author comments?
Some videos have comments that wont disappear even if there are over 1000 of comments made. Those comments are author comments.

What do I need to be able to do them?
The only thing you need is a video uploaded to nicovideo.jp and some time to make the comments.

How do I make author comments?

  • Go to smilevideo.jp and log in with your nicovideo.jp account. You’ll see all the videos you have uploaded, like this:
  • A video from smilevideo.jp

  • Click the link to the video and you’ll be back at nicovideo.jp.
  • Click the button I have outlined in red.
  • You’ll be taken to a page that wants you to confirm that you really want to write author comments. Press the button outlined in red.
  • You will now have to wait a while so that nicovideo can think for a bit. The video will not appear instantly, so don’t do anything until your page looks like this:

  • You will now be able to comment as usual, but with the only difference that the comments will stay even if your video gets thousands of comments.

  • When you are done commenting, press the button outlined in red and you’ll be brought back to the usual nicovideo page for that video.
  • That’s all there is to it!☆
Remember: Author comments can’t be made from existing comments. You can save comments made on the video though. That function is called “My memory” and I will show you how to use that later.
