Mario vs MikuMikuDance

MMD has become more than a 3D dance tool as of the latest releases, where people have started to use other programs for certain effects. One of the more popular ones seems to be Blender, which artists often use to make their characters. Effects does also seem to be on the rise, where After effects is a certain choice.
Has anyone here used MikuMikuDance? What do you use it for?
