Which one is the boy?

Genderbending seems to be the (new) big trend in anime and also in the fan community nowadays.
We have Minamike which has genderbending as a whole plot device for one of the characters, which for some reason is a woman in some peoples eyes. We also have Kyonko, which is Kyon from Haruhi that’s been turned into a woman. This seems to work just as well, if not better, than the “normal” series, since Kyon is quite… tsundere… for a male character. The male version of Nagato seems to work quite well too, as fangirls has been pushing out a lot of art and doujins including him/her.

The question is if this will stop or only escalate into a world where genders are changed on a whim, to suit the desires of the fans and creators. I’d like it to go that way, since so much new and good art is made.
